There seems to be some confusion about the status of the ACLU lawsuit and deportations.

On Thursday, the ACLU filed a class action lawsuit in Federal Court seeking to delay or waive deportation proceedings of the Iraqi’s that have been detained.  A hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday, June 21, 2017.  Until then, the US attorney’s office has voluntarily agreed not to deport anyone before Wednesday.  There is NO Court Order issued yet in the ACLU lawsuit or otherwise delaying or waving deportation.  Families of individuals that are held by ICE should continue to work with their attorneys to seek their options through the immigration’s courts.  The Project Justice committee members will continue to monitor the ACLU lawsuit and other developments in this matter, and update the community as necessary.
