Hey All Beware of people calling and posing as bill collectors. DO NOT pay bills over the phone. If they say you owe DTE or anyone else money, say okay, hang up and go call the number on your bill. They have been targeting business owners. So be careful. Below is a warning from the DTE website: In a recent telephone scheme, some Detroit area residents received recorded phone messages, purportedly from DTE Energy, saying their utility bill was overdue and their electric service would be disconnected. When the residents called the toll-free “800” number provided on the message, they were prompted to enter their name, address, and social security number. Hello – We hope you’re doing well. We’re writing to you today about the United Community Family Services – Chaldean American Ladies of Charity’s Christmas Family Program. The program allows sponsors or UCFS/CALC to purchase new items for families who are unable to do so during the Christmas Season. About the Christmas Family Program The Christmas Family Program has been serving families in need across the metro-Detroit area since 1999. In the 18-year history of the program, thousands of children and parents have experienced the joy of Christmas through this special program. Families are screened for participation in the program by UCFS/CALC staff. They must demonstrate a financial need and meet other criteria we’ve established. Sponsors (individuals, families, companies, etc.) assist a family for the Christmas season. Sponsors need to provide at least one item from each family member’s “need” list. Other suggested items could include a toy from their “wish” list, grocery gift cards, bedding and towels. All items must be newly purchased. Many sponsors provide much more! We provide sponsors with the details on the family: number of family members, each parent and child’s age, gender and size. A list of items needed and a list of items they wish for during the Christmas holiday. Two Ways to Give DIRECT SUPPORT If you prefer a personal, hands on experience, you will receive a family, senior or individual profile, a need’s list and a wish list. The American Middle East Christians Congress (AMECC) has declared the month of October of every year to be American Middle East Christians Month, where activities, lectures, meetings, television and radio programs, and a visit to the capitols of the states and Washington, D.C. will be included. The purpose of this month is to inform, educate, and promote the heritage, culture, civic and civil rights of the American Middle East Christians in the United States. There are over 7 million Americans of Middle East Christian descent, and they have been governors, senators, members of Congress, mayors, scientists, educators, and all walks of life in addition to their contributions to the commerce and culture of the United States. We hope each and everyone of the American Middle East Christians will create a program with religious leaders of other faiths and dialogue with political, social, and other avenues. The American Middle East Christians’ began with the pre-dawn of civilization and they are known as the cradle of civilization. Some of their establishments are considered the Seven Wonders of the World. We must stand up and be counted.
